What the app stores

Without sign-in, plant ownership, wishlist items, growth stages, dates, notes and growing-location labels are saved on your device. Location labels are text you enter; the app does not request GPS access.

If you choose Google, Apple or email/password sign-in, Firebase Authentication processes your account identifier and email, plus your name when supplied by Google or Apple. For email/password accounts, Firebase handles your password securely for authentication; passwords are not stored in collection records. Apple may provide a private relay email. Your collection records are associated with that account and stored in Cloud Firestore for backup and synchronisation. Your notes and collection are not public.

Why we use this information

We use account information to authenticate you, maintain your private collection, synchronise devices and respond to support or deletion requests. We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising. The app has no advertising SDK and does not run its own behavioural analytics. Authentication and database SDKs may collect technical diagnostics and service usage information as described below.

Service providers and transfers

Google Firebase provides authentication, database and hosting services. Connections may process IP addresses, technical request information and security logs needed to operate these services. Google sign-in may process account contact information (including a phone number supplied to Google), an IP-based approximate location, user and device identifiers, sign-in service usage, and other technical data for authentication, fraud prevention and service analytics. Firebase collects technical information such as SDK, device and operating-system versions for service diagnostics; Firebase states this user-agent information is not linked to a user or device identifier. These services do not give Hoya Collector access to your GPS location, address book, emails or messages. The collection database is located in Belgium; authentication and infrastructure processing may occur in other countries. Google and Apple process sign-in information under their own policies.

Trader links open independent websites. Those services have their own privacy policies. Apple and Google handle app purchases and payment information; Hoya Collector does not receive your payment card details.

Retention and deletion

Your account and cloud collection remain until you delete them. In the app, open the account panel and choose Delete account and cloud data. After identity verification, the app deletes your Firebase sign-in account, cloud plant records, wishlist and notes, and the account copy on the current device. A minimal record containing an account identifier and deletion time remains to block stale devices from restoring deleted records. It contains no name, email or plant content.

Copies on other devices and backups you exported may remain under your control. Clear app data or remove the app to erase device copies. Google and Apple may retain their own transaction or security records under their policies. Support correspondence is retained while needed to resolve the request and for legitimate recordkeeping.

You can also request deletion on our website. If an in-app deletion is interrupted, reconnect and retry or contact us.

Your choices

Sign-in is optional. You may export your collection, sign out, request access or correction, or delete your account. Contact us for privacy questions or to exercise applicable privacy rights. Do not send passwords or sign-in codes.

Children

Hoya Collector is designed for adult plant collectors and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it.
